Mercado Pago integration on WooCommerce with transparent checkout, Pix and fraud screening
We are Top 5 Mercado Pago · Platinum Partner and we handle the Mercado Pago WooCommerce integration end to end: setup, transparent checkout, Pix (Brazil’s instant bank transfer system), boleto (a Brazilian bank payment slip), cards and reconciliation. We don’t stop at installing the plugin — we follow what happens after the customer clicks “pay”. We run WooCommerce payment portals in production.
Mercado Pago WooCommerce integration, from plugin to reconciliation
Every item below is work we do on the live store, tested in a staging environment before it goes out.
Install and configure the Mercado Pago plugin on WooCommerce
Official plugin installed, production and test credentials kept separate, payment methods enabled one by one and an end-to-end test order before anything opens to the public.
Mercado Pago transparent checkout on WooCommerce
The customer pays inside your store, without being pushed to another screen. We adjust fields, error messages and mobile behavior, which is where most purchases happen.
Pix and boleto with automatic settlement
Pix and boleto enabled with the webhook configured, so the order changes status on its own when the payment lands. That is what removes the manual end-of-day checking spreadsheet.
Recurring subscriptions with Mercado Pago
Billing that repeats every month: we assess the setup with Mercado Pago and WooCommerce Subscriptions and, when your case doesn’t fit the plugin, we integrate through the official API.
Fraud screening and fewer card declines
Mercado Pago fraud screening active, review rules and a read of the decline reasons order by order. It reduces risk; there is no such thing as complete fraud prevention, and anyone promising it is selling something they don’t have.
Custom integration through the API
When the business rule doesn’t fit the plugin — a contract installment, a charge created by another system — we build the integration through the official Mercado Pago API, with a log of every call.
Reconciliation between the store and the Mercado Pago account
A report that matches the WooCommerce order against what actually landed in the Mercado Pago account. Gaps show up in the monthly check, not three months later.
Payment funnel measurement
GTM, GA4 and the Meta Conversions API installed with Consent Mode v2 and LGPD (Brazil’s data protection law) in mind, so you can see where the buyer gives up between cart and confirmation.
Credential and result
Three steps, no surprises along the way
1. Diagnosis with data
We look at the store, the Mercado Pago account and the orders that failed. You get the list of what is broken, what is missing and what already works — before we change anything.
2. Implementation with testing
Weekly sprints, with a staging environment and a test order on every payment method. Our rule applies here: whoever built it doesn’t verify it, whoever verified it doesn’t approve it.
3. Weekly optimization
Once it is live, we track declines, pending payments and reconciliation every week. Payments are not a project that ends; they are an operation that needs someone watching.
Questions about Mercado Pago WooCommerce integration
Is the official Mercado Pago plugin enough, or do I need a custom integration?
For most stores the official plugin does the job: cards, Pix, boleto and transparent checkout. A custom integration comes in when the business rule doesn’t fit the plugin — a charge created by another system, a contract installment or your own confirmation flow. The diagnosis answers that, and if the plugin solves it we say so.
How do I enable transparent checkout and Pix on WooCommerce?
In the official plugin you connect your Mercado Pago account credentials and enable each payment method separately; transparent checkout is an option inside the card settings. Pix requires the key configured in the account and the webhook pointed at the store, otherwise the order won’t change status on its own. We do that configuration and test each method with a real order before going live.
Does WooCommerce support recurring subscriptions with Mercado Pago?
Yes, in two ways: Mercado Pago’s own subscriptions or WooCommerce Subscriptions combined with the plugin. Which one fits depends on how you bill, which payment methods you accept for recurring charges and where the customer manages the plan. When neither works, we build the recurring billing through the official API.
How do I reduce declined card payments and fraud?
It starts with reading the reason for each decline, because a lot of what looks like fraud is mistyped data or an issuer limit. Then come the tools: Mercado Pago fraud screening, review rules and, when the case calls for it, buyer identity verification — that is what we did for a store on Nuvemshop, using only the platform’s official API. That reduces risk, but it does not guarantee complete fraud prevention.
How long does it take to get the integration live?
It depends on what the store already has and on how many payment methods and rules are in scope — which is why we don’t quote a timeline before looking. We work in weekly sprints, so you see a delivery every week and know what is left. In the diagnosis we agree on scope and timeline in writing.
Where can I see the cost of taking payments through Mercado Pago?
The fees are set by Mercado Pago and change with the payment method and the payout timeline, so we don’t publish numbers here. Check the official Mercado Pago cost page. Our work is the integration and the operation, billed separately.
